The Peace and Justice Interfaith Coalition met in July, 2008. In attendance were: Pat Guthmann Haresch, Maryann Miller, Teresa Stanley, Connie Brothers, Gail Leonard, Jack Mann, Vick James, Mary Ann Miller, Claiborne Yarbrough, Laura Strickland, and Nancy Proctor. Members of the Coalition expressed interest in a wide range of peace and social justice issues: Immigration, Homeless, Peace, Fair Housing, Living Wage, Working Poor, Health Care, Class and Economic Issues, Systemic Justice Changes, Education, Hearing the stories of the oppressed, Education and more. The Coalition agreed that whatever the steps taken, actions needed to be sustainable, with focused purpose and defined goals with beginning and ending parameters. It was decided to focus on a film series featuring award winning peace and social justice documentaries. The film series works towards broad public communication and engagement with the community and other nonprofits in the area.
Since 2008, the Peace and Justice Interfaith Coalition has been sponsoring documentaries through the Coalition’s Film Series Committee.
